Carl W. Holland

Carl Walker Holland, Sr., 75, of Johnson City, Tenn. died Friday Aug. 15. 2003, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and had lived in Johnson City since 1973.
Mr. Walker was a son of the late William S. and Willie Elam Holland. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Holland; one brother, William Holland; and one sister, Ann Voyton.
He received his BS degree from Virginia Tech, his Masters Degree from East Tennessee State University and his Doctorate Degree from the University of Tennessee. He was a retired administrator from East Tennessee State University.
Mr. Holland was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include one son and daughter in-law, C. Walker Holland Jr. and his wife, Melodee; two brothers, J. Elam Holland of Charlottsville; and Mason P. Holland of Columbus, Ga.; one grandson, David W. Holland of Johnson City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Sandy Farley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Pastor John Hitechew will officiate. Private family graveside services will be conducted Tuesday from Monte Vista Burial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ray Lamb, Dr. Paul Brown, Dr. Steven Hamel, Dr. T.P. Copeland, Mr. Doug Hampton and Mr. Kevin Snapp.
