Michael E. Simpkins

Michael &uot;Mike&uot; Edward Simpkins, 56, of 2848 North Shore Dr., Suffolk, died on Aug. 17, 2003, in Maryview Medical Center.
He was a public information officer and Crime Line coordinator for the City of Suffolk Police Department.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 41, Police Association of Virginia, Southeastern Crime Stoppers Assoc., Crime Stoppers International, Hampton Roads Emergency Services Media Council, Eastern Virginia Crime Clinic, and the Peanut City Bass Masters.
He was the son of the late Edward &uot;Pap&uot; Simpkins and Myrtle Baker Simpkins.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Costner Simpkins of Suffolk; a daughter and son-in-law,
Michelle S. and Nathan Butler of Seattle, WA.; a step daughter and husband,
Julie M. and Neilson Taylor of Portsmouth, a sister, Virginia Carol Coyle of Chesapeake.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of the Harrell & Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Lamar Sentell officiating. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
Friends may join family from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrell & Hill Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
