William L. Joyner Sr.

William Lassiter &uot;Billy&uot; Joyner Sr., 68, died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at his home in Suffolk.
Born in Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Malbon Etheridge and Martha Lassiter Joyner.
He was a member of Oakland Christian Church, and had served in the Virginia National Guard during the 1950’s.
He is survived by his loving fiance’, Mary Ann Rose of Suffolk; his son and daughter-in-law, William &uot;Chip&uot; Lassiter and Janine J. Joyner of Suffolk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Joyner and Robert W. Babb of Suffolk; and Tamra Joyner and Terry L. Critter of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Wesley S. Whitmore, Catelyn N. and L. Alexandra Joyner, Meghan L. and R. Austin Babb, Mona E. and M. Garrison Crigger; great-granddaughter, Brianna Whitmore; and sister and brother-in-law, Anne J. and C. Frank Jordan of Suffolk.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory by the Rev. Michael E. Halley, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, and other times at 3450 Waters Ave.
