Suffolk police have charged a Suffolk woman with four felonies after she allegedly intentionally struck another woman with her vehicle in a cemetery on Thursday and then fled the scene.
Patricia Ann Devine, 24, of the 900 block of Manning Road, is charged with unlawful wounding, felony hit and run, and two counts of child endangerment after the altercation in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
According to police, the victim, Kassie Haines, 19, was walking through the cemetery with friends when Devine pulled into the cemetery and struck Haines with her car. Haines previously dated the father of the suspect’s 13-month-old son. She was treated at Sentara Obici Hospital for her injuries.
During their investigation, police discovered that the 13-month-old and another child were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Devine posted $3,000 bond from Western Tidewater Regional Jail. Detective Carlos Gonzales is the lead investigator.
