Tyler Van Selow rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy recovered from a slow start to overtake visiting Windsor 30-16 in junior varsity football on Wednesday. After the Saint defense fell behind early in the second quarter, the offense pushed across 22 unanswered points to secure the victory.

Van Selow, known as &uot;Tank,&uot; &uot;TV,&uot; and &uot;T-Money&uot; to his friends, opened the game by charging 16 yards to his team’s 49, and carried on seven of the Saints’ next nine plays, culminating in a six-yard dash untouched through the left side of the NSA line for a touchdown. The extra point failed, leaving NSA with a 6-0 lead five minutes into the game.

The Duke offense slowly moved down the field, and Tory Pittman sped around the right side of the line for a three-yard score on the first play of the second quarter. An extra point later, Windsor had an 8-6 advantage.

Devin Arnold returned the ensuing the kickoff 16 yards to the Saint 46, and Van Selow bolted 11 yards over the next two plays. Dane Fisher ran for three yards, and Van Selow carried for 10 more. Fisher made it to the Duke 26, and Van Selow scurried 19 yards around the left end to the seven. Two plays later, he leaped over for a two-yard score, and Trey Hill hit Arnold for the extra point.

Both teams fumbled away their next possessions, and a pair of holding penalties pushed Wind-sor back to its own five with nine seconds left. Chase White snared an interception on the next play, and motored 22 yards back into the Windsor endzone for a 22-8 halftime advantage.

Hill proved just as adept at catching passes as throwing them early in the third quarter, as he picked off a Duke pass and ran it back to the Windsor 27. Van Selow ran for 13 yards over the next two plays, but Hill was knocked back for a five-yard loss, giving the Saints a third-and-eight at the Windsor 20.

Van Selow took the handoff and headed toward the right sideline, where he was met helmet-on by a line of white jerseys. He juked around, and charged all the way back across the field, not stopping until he’d reached the seven. Three plays later, Fisher scored his first touchdown of the game, and Arnold caught another extra point pass to complete the Saints’ scoring.

Josh Parmenter led the Saint defense with 12 tackles, while Dexter Roberts had 11 and Adam Nash 10.
