The Booker T. Washington High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund was founded in 1993 for the purpose of forming a committee to formulate laws and bylaws on how finances would be distributed to help young descendants of alumni members to receive a formal college education.
From 1993 through 2003 the Alumni Association has awarded over $30,000 in scholarship money to college students of descendents.
Present members of the Scholarship Committee are Dr. Thelma T. Norfleet, chairman; M. Deloise Vann, co-chairman; Florine Cooper, secretary; Bobby C. Wright, treasurer; James (Doc) Richards Sr., and Roland Wilson.
The BTW Scholarship Committee’s goal is to encourage students of descendants to pursue a higher education, to make significant contributions to their communities.
