A 1-year-old boy spent New Year’s Eve in Obici Hospital after his brother accidentally shot him in the head with a BB gun.

The toddler, whose family lives on Smith Street, was treated and released from the hospital’s emergency room, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31 when the toddler and his 10-year-old brother were playing in a spare bedroom, George said.

Police are still looking into the incident, she added.
