Bertha Lee Owens Cherry of 336 Cedar St., Suffolk, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at her residence.

She was a native of Bertie County, N.C., and the widow of Emmitt Cherry. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Madeline Cherry, and a brother, Thomas Owens.

She had retired from the food service department of Obici Hospital after 18 years of service.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence A. Cherry of Suffolk and Herman Cherry of Baltimore, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Faith Temple Apostolic Church by the Rev. Betty M. Knight. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Clarence Cherry, 1902 Freeney Ave.
