Suffolk police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the assault of a runner Wednesday night.
Police arrested the juvenile Friday evening. He is charged with one count abduction with intent to defile, one count sexual battery and one count assault and battery.
Police say that just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, a 23-year-old woman was running on Lord’s Lane in the Suffolk Meadows neighborhood when she was grabbed and thrown to the ground.
When the woman screamed, the suspect struck her in the face several times, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. He ran from the area when vehicles approached on the roadway.
The victim did not suffer serious injuries, George added.
The suspect currently is being held at Tidewater Detention Home.
