Saints squads fall in opening TCIS tourney games

Lexi Holland and Ann-Taylor Spain scored 13 points apiece in the farewell performance as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy fell in the first round of the TCIS tournament Wednesday, losing 50-35 to host Peninsula Catholic. Claire Leonard scored seven in her last game, and the Saints also said a final farewell to Caroline Parker.
The NSA boys also fell in their first TCIS tournament game Wednesday, 72-50 to host Norfolk Collegiate. Kyle Jett led the Saints with 18 points.
Challenger Little League now holding registration
Challenger Little League Baseball is now taking registration for the spring season. This program offers a structured athletic activity for players ages 5 to 21 with physical and/or mental disabilities.
The first team meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 1 behind Driver Elementary School, in the board room above the concession stand at the Bennett’s Creek Little League field. Call Coach Lou at 238-3202 for more information.
Suffolk 14U basketball team looking for sponsorship
The Suffolk Blazers girls’ 14U AAU basketball team is seeking sponsorship, new uniforms and other equipment. The team also has other expenses that have to be paid, such as traveling. Anyone interested in helping this deserving and appreciative group of young ladies should call 729-5905 or 651-9564.
