Pelma Parker

Mrs. Pelma Parker, 83, of 924 Lake Kennedy Drive, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in Obici Hospital.
A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Sadie Ashburn Edwards, and the widow of Christopher Parker. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Emma Whiterspoon and Addie Parker, and a son, Jacob Parker.
She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and was the mother of the church. She was a former member of the Senior Choir, Missionary Circle and Pastor’s Aide. She was a member of Sunday School Class No. 1 and the Bible Study Group.
She is survived by four daughters, Clara Ricks, Dorothy Sharpe, Sadie Faulk (James), and Orabell Turner, all of Suffolk; two sons, the Rev. Larry Parker (Talma), and Columbus Parker (Lillie) of Suffolk; one brother, Louis Edwards (Pearlean) of Suffolk; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral will be held at noon Thursday in Piney Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Parker. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
