Greg Scott, a former NFL defensive lineman and founder and CEO of Cover 3 Foundation, recently received a local community service award.

Scott received the award from Franklin Parks and Recreation and the Lambda Psi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority during a program in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The award was presented to Scott by Waverly Lawrence. Lawrence spoke of Scott’s lifelong accomplishments; his high school, college and NFL experience; and the Cover 3 Foundation.

“Of all my accomplishments on and off the playing field, this one means the most to me,” Scott said in remarks at the event. He then called upon his C3F staff in attendance to join him to share in is the recognition.

C3F is a nonprofit organization that specializes in inspiring and motivating youth to achieve their goals and conquer adversity through positive, personal and passionate coaching, mentoring and community service.

The C3’s Kids Meals division of C3F feeds more than 4,000 at-risk children daily at more than 50 sites in Southeastern Virginia. The meals are free of charge to any qualifying school, community center or church.

Founded in 2009, the Cover 3 Foundation was born from Greg Scott’s passion to fill numerous personal voids for today’s youth and a desire to provide a dynamic platform that would safely empower them to make the good life choices.
