Early Saturday evening, April 10, 2004, God dispatched his loving angels and called home our beloved Horace Irving Manley of Windsor.

Horace was born on Oct. 30, 1932, in Handson, to the late Ruffin and Beulah Boone Manley.

Horace worked as a self-employed bricklayer for many years with various construction firms.

He served in the U.S. Army, and was a former deacon at Morning Star Baptist Church before joining Christian Home Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lealer Jordan Manley; two sons, Horace I. Manley Jr. of Texas, and Prince Manley (Deborah) of New Jersey; two daughters, Cassandra Gillchrist (Randolph) of New Jersey, and Vanita Cross (Napolean) of Suffolk; two brothers, Jesse Manley of Hampton, and the Rev. Dr. John R. Manley of North Carolina; three sisters, Eunice M. Young of Suffolk; Katie Gay(Walter) of Wakefield; and Beulah Chambers (Raymond) of Harrisburg, Pa.; five sisters-in-law, Beatrice Hudson, Dollie Wright, Mary Spears, Mollie Jordan, and Sylvia Battle; and five brothers-in-law, Tipney Jordan, Claude Jordan, David Jordan, Gerald Jordan, and Joseph Jordan; nine grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, in Christian Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John R. Manley giving the eulogy. Interment will be in the Manley Family Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Friday in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home, with a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family will greet family and friends at 1225 Exchange Road, (near Pruden Boulevard), and from there the procession will leave at 10 a.m. Saturday.
