Lennie Hinton

Lennie Pelll Hinton, 89, of the 900 block of Carter Road in Hobbsville, N.C., died July 1 in his home.
Mr. Hinton was born in Gates County, and was the son of the late Lennie Pelll and Alice Riddick Hinton. A retired farmer, he was a member of Hobbsville Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, was church treasurer for over 20 years, and was a Trustee. Mr. Hinton was a past member of the Executive Board of the North Carolina Peanut Growers Association, past chairman of the Gates County ASCS Board, and a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Preceded in death by his wife, Winfield Carter Hinton, he is survived by two sons, Lennie Pell Hinton and his wife Brona of Hobbsville, and Lonnie Carter Hinton and wife Dail of Suffolk, a brother Henry W. Hinton of Hobbsville and three grandchildren, Lisa, Nikki and Deshler.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hobbsville Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Dannelly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home of Gatesville in charge.
