William Leon Myrick, 69, of 610 Clarys Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of Alice Myrick and the late Moses Corbett. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lessie Mae Myrick, and two brothers, John Myrick and Moses Myrick.

He was a 1961 graduate of East Suffolk High School and attended Norfolk State College. He was a former mail carrier in Suffolk and an Army veteran. He was a member of Rising St. James PHC.

He is survived by his mother, Alice Myrick; one brother, Jeffery Myrick (Sandra) of Suffolk; a foster sister, Bernadette Branch of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Carolyn Myrick of Suffolk; an aunt, Ethel Bolling of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Rising St. James PHC officiated by Bishop Dwight Whitfield. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jeffery Myrick, 606 Chisholm Lane, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
