Nansemond River senior Shakeela Saunders won the 55-meter dash and the triple jump as part of an impressive performance all the way around for the Lady Warrior track team at the Friends of Indoor Track Invitational in Landover, Md. On Tuesday.

Saunders won the 55 dash in 7.21 seconds after being in second place through the preliminary heats. Saunders won the triple jump with a best mark of 38-feet-4.25, 7.75 inches longer than Jessica Caldwell of McDonogh School (Md.).

Saunder placed second in the high jump and was part of the Lady Warrior 4×400 relay team, with Markelle Patteron, Mia McClain and Kieaira Middleton, which took fifth place in the field made up largely of Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia schools.

McClain, a sophomore, finished fourth in the 55-meter dash in 7.49.
