Plans are under way for Kids College, PDCCC’s summer enrichment series offering unique workshops for rising second through twelfth graders that are designed to teach new skills, develop new interests and hobbies and explore career opportunities.

Sponsored by the Division of Workforce Development, this singular offering is coordinated by Teri Zurfluh and Harvey McLemore, who crafted the following message for kids: “Come join the summer series that will spark imaginations and inspire creativity! It will be the best summer your brain ever had!”

Kids College 2010 will run weekdays from June 21 through Aug. 13, with a variety of classes every week and more than 40 different class choices in the following topic areas: career exploration, the arts, hobbies and interests, science, technology, engineering and math.

Registration materials will be available May 1 at Paul D. Camp Community College’s Regional Workforce Development Center in Franklin and online at www.pdc.edu/workforce-development/kids-college. Since class sizes are limited, early registration is encouraged. Call 569-6050 for more details.

Local Scholarships

Through the generosity of various individuals and organizations, a number of scholarships and grants are available at PDCCC to recognize outstanding performance and help students “Get Ahead.” Candidates may apply for more than one scholarship.

To complete the application process, applicants should read the criteria and submit a separate application for each scholarship. New students need to submit an application for admission to the college with high school/college transcripts attached and make sure that all requirements are met by the deadline.

For a scholarship application to be considered for the following semester, all transcripts and applications for admission must be received in the Office of Admissions by the due date for receipt of the scholarship application.

Information on local scholarships available for fall semester 2010 is posted on the college Web site. The deadline for applying is June 25. Recipients will be notified by July 23. Fall Semester classes start August 19.

PDCCC is dedicated to providing a debt-free education for students. According to Teresa Harrison, Financial Aid Coordinator, “Even if a student does not qualify for financial aid, the College offers a no-interest payment plan through Nelnet. Early application is recommended for the lowest downpayment option. At this time, the College does not participate in student loan programs, such as the Stafford Loan.”
