Elder Marvin Johnson, Sr., son of the late Lacy Chambers and Mattie Johnson, was born in June 1938 in Lumberton, N.C. God called him home on November 6, 2004 in Bennettsville, SC.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Betty Johnson of SC; six sons, Marvin Johnson, John Henderson, Kendell Thomas, Luvell Henderson, Jay Murry and Moses Thomas; three daughters, Susie VanDunk, Lakesha Simmons and Judy Henderson; four brothers, Billy Johnson, David Johnson (Jean), Wallace Johnson (Ethel) and James Johnson (JoAnn); two sisters, Ann Joe (John) and Brenda Hargett; five aunts; three uncles; devoted cousin, Bobby Johnson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Grace Bibleway Temple, 1226 White Marsh Road, Suffolk, Va at 12 p.m. The viewing will be on Friday, November 12, 2004 from noon to 7 p.m. at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet everyone at the home of Sister Ann Joe, 709 Nixon Drive in Lake Kennedy with internment at Carver Cemetery. T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home is in charge.
