Edward Stewart Smither, Jr., 48, died Nov. 13, 2004.

Born July 8, 1956 he was the son of Margaret Wilson Smither of Suffolk and the late Edward Stewart Smither, Sr. He was predeceased by a daughter, Meghan Jean Smither.

Mr. Smither was Activities Director and Teacher at Lakeland High School. He was former football coach at Lakeland and Forest Glen High Schools. He was Southside Sting Girls Fast Pitch Softball Coach. He was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church and the Virginia High School League Coaches Association.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Eason Smither; two daughters, Katelyn Stewart Smither and Kelsey Elizabeth Smither of Suffolk.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Lakeland High School Football Stadium by Dr. Jarvis M. Hearn with burial in Holland cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory.
