Katelyn Smither became the first Lakeland student to make the Virginia High School Coaches Association AAA All-State field hockey team three times, it was announced over the weekend. Smither, a two-time District Player of the Year, made the First state team in her senior and junior years, and Second team in her sophomore year.

Goalkeeper Kelsey Cutchins, who has made All-District all three of her years at Lakeland, was also named to the State team.
