The deadline is quickly approaching for Virginia potato growers to get insurance coverage for the 2005 crop year.

The deadline is Dec. 31, according to the Raleigh, N.C. regional office of the USDA Risk Management Agency.

Current policyholders likewise have until Dec. 31 to make adjustments to their existing contracts. Crop insurance protects farmers against a loss in potato production due to natural perils such as drought or excessive moisture.
