Edward Thompson

Edward &uot;Co-Boone&uot; Thompson, 73, of the 100 block of Shepard Street in Suffolk, died Jan. 1, 2005 at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Abraham Jackson and Celestine Thompson Jackson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Jackson.

He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of first Baptist Church on Mahan Street.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley W. Thompson of Suffolk; four daughters, Phyllis Bess Holland of Suffolk, Cathy L. Warren of Franklin, Gwendolyn J. Dildy (Jefferson) of Woodbridge and Helen J. McCoy (Kenneth) of Crestview, Fl.; one stepdaughter, LaWanda Woodson of Suffolk; two sons, Edward S. Jackson (Cathey) of Richmond and Jay E. Thompson of Suffolk; three stepsons, Billy E. Briggs, James Briggs and Romane Woodson, all of Suffolk; two sisters, Mary Virginia Thompson and Mildred Jackson of Suffolk; three brothers, Melvin Jackson, Sr. (Rachel), Charles Jackson (Gloria Jean) and Ronald Jackson, all of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Anna Jackson of Suffolk; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a devoted mother-in-law, Lelear R. Woodson; four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2004 in First Baptist Church on Mahan Street by Rev. Steven Blunt The Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home in Suffolk is handling arrangements.
