School bus involved in minor accident

A bus carrying 36 elementary students was involved in a minor accident Tuesday afternoon.

The bus, which was taking the students home from Driver Elementary School, was struck from behind by an SUV at the corner of Nansemond Parkway and Wilroy Road, according to a press release from Diana Klink, a spokeswoman for the city.

No injuries were reported. The school principal and transportation officials responded to the scene and determined that the bus was safe to continue its route. There was minor damage to the rear passenger side of the bus.

Police have charged the driver of the SUV, Kelsey Honeycutt, age 19, with following too closely. The driver of the bus was not charged.
