Annie Bell Evans Powell, 83, of Portsmouth passed away Nov. 30, 2011. A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Annie N. (Stokes) Evans and the widow of Cleo Powell.

She is survived by a son, Lee Powell (Sharon) of Virginia Beach; three daughters, Joyice Jones (Rev. Wong-ya Sr.) of Suffolk, Belinda Wright of Dayton, Ohio, and Sherry Elliott (Harry Jr.) of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Dana Powell and Alexis Elliott; and six grandsons, Benson, Malcolm, and C. Davis Powell, Frederick and Marcus Wright and Harrison Elliott; and other relatives and friends.

A wake is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Chapel Grove UCC, 7366 W. Blackwater Rd., Windsor.
