Joyce Overman Ralph, the wife of Suffolk Mayor Bobby L. Ralph, died Wednesday. She suffered from cancer.

&uot;We are deeply saddened,&uot; said Dennis Craff, spokesman for the city.

A native of Hobbsville, N.C., Mrs. Ralph was a former member of Eureka Baptist Church and had recently joined Suffolk Christian Church.

She worked for 35 years as a registered nurse between Obici Hospital and the Lakeview Medical Center in Suffolk.

Among her close survivors is a daughter, Wendy Blausey and husband, Art.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 in the Suffolk Christian Church. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Donations are being made to the American Cancer Society, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, Va. 23434. Condolences can be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com
