Suffolk Police were called to the scene of an accident in Whaleyville around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday involving a Ford pickup driven by James Brinkley of Suffolk, and a 2003 Oldsmobile operated by Angela Ellis, who resides on Carolina Road. Brinkley had been traveling north when he stopped on Carolina Road to make a left onto Copeland Road, according to police reports. After being struck in the rear by the Oldsmobile, Brinkley was forced into the path of a tractor-trailer, said Lt. Debbie George, Suffolk police spokeswoman. Brinkley, the only one injured in the accident, was flown to Sentara Norfolk General. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Ellis has been charged with reckless driving.
