Chargers take two against Brunswick

Both Isle of Wight basketball squads claimed victories at home against Brunswick Academy Tuesday night.
The Chargers won the boys game 80-30 and the girls contest 53-46. The Chargers improve to a 2-0 record while the Lady Chargers are 2-2 with back-to-back victories.
Junior center Nathan Sivertson led the Chargers with 13 points. The Chargers led Brunswick Academy 39-20 at halftime and kept the rout going by outscoring Brunswick 27-4 in the third period.
Junior guard Austin Rogers scored 12 points and senior forward Ian Andrews added 11 points, scoring nine of his points in the first quarter.
The Chargers opened their season last Tuesday winning 74-32 at Northeast Academy in Lasker, N.C.
The Lady Chargers lost two games to Kenston Forest before winning 42-30 at Northeast on Nov. 22 and taking Tuesday’s game.
The Lady Chargers won each of the first three periods and led the Lady Vikings 40-29 going to the fourth quarter.
Both Charger teams host Metro Conference rival Portsmouth Christian Friday evening with the girls game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the boys game following.
