Joseph Quattlebaum of Suffolk has been selected to participate in the Mars Hill College Honor Scholars Program. Honor Scholars are the student leaders at Mars Hill College. They are expected to excel academically; to demonstrate responsible citizenship through service learning; and to be leaders in the classroom, on the playing field, within student organizations, and in the community.

To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.3 high school grade point average and score at least 1050 on the SAT or 23 on the ACT. While at Mars Hill College, Honor Scholars must maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA, participate in at least 35 hours of service-learning activities each semester, and attend retreats and seminars which build a sense of community and help the Scholars develop leadership skills.
