A former Isle of Wight deputy sheriff is being held at Suffolk’s Tidewater Regional Jail
after being arrested on a charge of taking indecent liberties with a child.
David Paul Sessoms, 48, of Carrolton, was taken into custody at approximately 1:50 p.m. Thursday, said State Police Sgt. D.S. Carr.
Sessoms was indicted by a grand jury on March 14 for taking indecent liberties with a 10-year-old Windsor girl in April 2004.
The crime was reported to the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Chesapeake Field Office in October, and Sessoms resigned from the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office in January 2005, according to state police.
