Perhaps the King’s Fork High soccer teams should stop playing right now. Maybe they should cancel the entire program and never take the field again.

That way, they could say that they were never beaten or tied in school history. The Lady Bulldogs defeated visiting Norview 4-0 and the boys won 4-1 on Monday evening. Katie Dugan knocked in two goals for the Lady Bulldogs, and Jennifer Morgan and Megan Whitford one each.

Morgan scored the first goal, taking a direct kick from the left and knocking it into the net.

&uot;I was really happy and excited,&uot; she said. &uot;That was the first goal I’ve scored in my whole life. I think we had a good start for our school.&uot;

Dugan smacked in her first goal 25 minutes into the first half and her second five minutes into the last period.

&uot;I hope that they were two of many,&uot; she said. &uot;I need to work on my offsides, I got called for that a lot. This is going to be an exciting season.&uot;

After tending goal for the first half, Whitford got a chance to play on the other side of the ball in the second, and made the most of it, smacking in the first goal of her varsity career.

&uot;Goal was boring,&uot; she said. &uot;I haven’t had a chance to play much in the field.&uot;

Before moving to Fork, she stopped shots for three years at Lakeland.

Kurt McIntyre scored two goals, Jeff Gilmet one and Mike McTaggart one in the boys’ victory.

Nine minutes into the game, Tyler Keeling broke down the right side of the field. Near the corner of the goal box, he collided with a defender and both went down. Keeling jumped up and slid a pass to Gilmet in the center for the first-ever Bulldog goal and assist.

A breakaway goal tied the game at 1-1 at halftime, but McIntyre knocked in a rebound early in the second, and Keeling sent an assist to McTaggert to up the lead to two. With less than two minutes to play, Justin Albright sent a shot into the center, where it hit McIntyre and bounced to his right. McIntyre stepped over and slid-kicked the ball into the right side of the net.

The Bulldogs hope to continue their success today against Wilson, with the girls staying home and the boys heading to Portsmouth.

In other action, Nansemond River’s girls fell 4-0 to First Colonial. They’ll host Tabb on Thursday.
