Kenneth Wayne Crowder, who coached baseball and football at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy for eight years, pleaded guilty Monday morning in Virginia Beach Circuit Court to two counts resulting from his Dec. 28 arrest as part of an undercover operation coordinated by Suffolk and Virginia Beach investigators.

Crowder, 52, pled guilty to attempting indecent liberties and use of a communication device for procuring minors for obscene materials. A resident of the 200 block of Northbrooke Avenue, he remains free until sentencing on May 23, when he’ll face a maximum of 15 years behind bars.

Crowder and his attorney, William Johnson, would not comment after the hearing.

&uot;It’s a tragedy for the Crowder family and for the entire community,&uot; said NSA president Douglas Naismith. &uot;That’s really all I can say at this point.&uot;

Crowder was arrested after he allegedly attempted to solicit a 13-year-old boy over the Internet, using the screen name KCROWOO. After he traveled to Virginia Beach to meet the &uot;youth,&uot; Crowder was arrested.
