The Laurel Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. on today at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1885 Bridge Road, Suffolk. The group will carpool to the Red Maple Inn in Newport News. The program will consist of a garden tour, lunch and presentation of year-end awards.

March of Dimes bass tournament

Suffolk Parks and Recreation at Lone Star Lakes Park on Saturday, May 14 for the annual March of Dimes Bass Fishing Tournament from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This event cost is $25 per boat with a two person per boat maximum.

Relay for Life golf tournament

The Supreme Foods Relay for Life team will be sponsoring a golf tournament on May 10 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course. Lunch is at noon with tee off between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Cost will be $60 per player and includes green fees, cart, lunch, snacks, & prizes.

The Whaleyville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a Spring fish fry &uot;Filet of Trout&uot; from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Fire Station #8, 6235 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk. March against drugs

The Faith House of Refuge will be having a march against drugs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. An open cookout and recreational activities will be free of charge for those that attend. Masonic Charity Ride

The 56th Masonic District is sponsoring a Charity Ride on May 7 for the Ronald McDonald House. The ride will start at the Virginia Beach Lodge #274 on 20th Street and Arctic Avenue, Virginia Beach. Registration will be held from 8 and 11 a.m. (1st bike out at 9 a.m.). The cost is $10 for riders and $5 for passengers. Donation items needed consist of household and kitchen goods. Applications for the Suffolk Chapter of Norfolk State University Alumni Association Scholarship Award of $500 are available from the guidance department at King’s Fork, Lakeland and Nansemond River high schools.
