NSA artists celebrate van Gogh’s birthday

On March 30, l853, the Post-Impressionist Artist, Vincent van Gogh was born in Groot Zundert, Holland.
In celebration of his 152nd birthday, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy art students remembered the artist by planning and organizing an art show and birthday party.
For three weeks, the classes studied his life history and painting style.
The students implemented the techniques learned into their own reproductions of a chosen van Gogh painting using acrylic paint on stretched canvases.
Award ribbons and art books were presented to the following student artist winners:
Best in Show: Jack Wright- The Langlois Bridge at Arles
1st Place: Shane Tuck- Olive Grove
2nd Place: Stacey Brown- Pink Peach Tree in Blossom
3rd Place: Trisha Breslauer- Irises
AP Students Choice Award: Shea Alsted- A Pair of Shoes
