Lakeland scores two shutouts

Stephanie Owen knocked in a hat trick and Lindsey Cutchins had a goal and assist as Lakeland knocked off host Norview 6-0 on a windy Friday afternoon. Chris Smith had two assists as the Cavaliers also brought home a shutout, 4-0.
Five minutes into the game, Nicole Klee sent a pass to the middle, where a streaking Cutchins took it all the way to the got. Seven minutes later, Cutchins sent an assist to Owen.
At the 25-minute mark, Klee lifted a long shot toward the left goalpost, which Cutchins and the keeper reached at the same time. The ball rolled back up the middle, where Owen knocked it in for her second goal. Klee bounced another shot off the keeper’s hands with 33 minutes left, and Owen completed her hat trick.
Deshonna Smith scored about two minutes into the second half, and Jessica Estienne got the last Lady Cavalier goal.
In the boys’ game, Justin Schleeper scored in the first minute of the first half, and Sam Lashells in the last minute. Smith gave an assist to T.J. Van Patten 15 minutes into the second half, then knocked a direct kick that Jake Conrad headed in.
In other action, Nansemond River fell at home 2-0 to York.
The Warriors will host King’s Fork on Tuesday.
