A 23-year-old Suffolk man pleaded guilty in federal district court on Wednesday to firearms charges related to a string of robberies in 2010 and 2011.

Eric Goodman faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 32 years in prison when he is sentenced on Feb. 29, according to U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride, who made the announcement after U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson accepted the plea on Wednesday. Goodman pleaded guilty to two counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence.

According to court documents, Goodman and a co-defendant robbed eight to 10 businesses in various cities around Hampton Roads from late 2010 through early 2011.

A convenience store and a Comfort Inn Suites hotel were among the businesses that were robbed. During the robberies, the men brandished firearms and demanded money from the clerks.

According to MacBride, the men returned to the Comfort Inn Suites to rob that business a second time, but the clerk called police, and the men were arrested. Goodman later confessed to the crimes he’d committed, MacBride said in a press release.
