Helen Dorothy Bryant, 77, of the 800 block of Dill Road, Suffolk, died April 26, 2005 in Obici Hospital. She was a native of Como, N.C. She was predeceased in death by her husband, George C. Bryant; father and mother, William and Maggie Jenkins Lyttle; and her brother, John W. Lyttle.

She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church where she was on the Deaconess Board, Missionary Circle, Pastor’s Aid, Women Fellowship and former member of the choir. She retired after 20 years at Obici Hospital in environmental services.

She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Alston (David), Brenda Bryant, Patricia Pruden and Sylvia Yvonne Bryant; one son, Alvin L. Bryant Sr. (Cora); one sister, Dorothy Harris; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Lyttle and Mae Curtis Brodie; 19 grandchildren, Toni Moore, Aneesah Smith, Michael Alston, Elvin Alston, Traci Alston, Dexter Alston, Sean Bryant, Tamara Bryant, Torrance Bryant, Beyonkia Bryant, Terrance Christopher Bryant, James Pruden, Terry Pruden, Sherry Olds, Africa Bryant-Mizell, Gwendolyn Bryant, Alvin Bryant Jr., Calvin Bryant and Trevell Pruden; 44 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005 in Pleasant Union Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. V. T. Chambers. The interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at 822 Dill Road, and will also assemble there at 1 p.m. Saturday for the procession to the church. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling the arrangements.
