Albert L. Clark Sr.

Albert L. Clark Sr., 82, of the 100 block of North Lloyd Street, Suffolk, died May 3, 2005 in Obici Hospital. He was a native of Gates County, N.C. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. John H. Clark and Mrs. Essie E. Ballard Clark; and his brother, Irvin Lewis Clark. He also was preceded in death by two wives, Mrs. Alverta B. Clark and Mrs. Rebecca B. Clark.
He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church and a former member of its #2 choir. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge #231 and Greater Suffolk Elk Lodge #206. He was an Army veteran and he retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bernice Cherry-Clark of Suffolk; three daughters, Cynthia C. Stovall, Joyce Jacobs and Marline P. Holliman (James) all of Suffolk; two sons, Albert L. Clark Jr. and Harvey D. Clark both of Suffolk; a stepson, James Brown of Suffolk; one sister, Annie Irene Ruffin of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon on Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Tabernacle Christian Church by Rev. Dr. Carlton R. Upton Sr. The interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m. The family will be at 122 N. Lloyd St. and 130 Maple St. The family will leave from 122 N. Lloyd St. for the processional to the church. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling the arrangements.
