Delores P. Harper

Delores P. Harper, 65, of the 300 block of Jackson St., Suffolk, died May 4, 2005 in Chesapeake General Hospital. She was a native of Norfolk and was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonso and Etta Orgborn Pierce.

She was a member of Faith Temple Apostolic Church and New Jerusalem Apostolic Church. She was the first lady and Church secretary of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church. She was a faithful member of Faith Temple Apostolic Church where she served on the Missionary Board, Senior Choir, kitchen staff, formed the Tiny Tots Choir and was a coordinator for King’s Kids.

She is survived by her husband, Pastor Leslie Harper Jr.; three daughters, Janice Copeland (Clarence), Ethel A. Seaborn (Gerald), and Jessica B. Harper, all of Suffolk; one son, Leslie A. Harper of Suffolk; six sisters, Mary Virginia Boone of Windsor, Marie Kenly of S.C., Geraldine Diggs (Sim) of Portsmouth; Jeanetta Hunter (Tony), Deborah Kearney (Mitchell), and Doris Futrell (Tom), all of Suffolk; four brothers, Willie Pierce (Shirley) of Suffolk, Alphonso Pierce (Christine) of Smithfield, John Pierce (Marva), and Dennis Pierce of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Jean Harper; ten grandchildren, including a devoted granddaughter, Justina Harper; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 at Faith Temple Apostolic Church, conducted by Bishop Obadiah Colander. The interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday and will be at 328 E. Pinner St. The family will assemble at 305 Jackson St. at noon Monday for the procession to the church. The body will be taken to the church at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
