Ferguson receives final convocation award at Hampden-Sydney College

Hampden-Sydney College, junior Robert M. Ferguson, a biology and economics and commerce major, received the P. T. Atkinson Award at final convocation on April 21, presented by Candice J. Dowdy, Director of College Events. Ferguson, a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Phillips Ferguson of Suffolk.

In honor of the college’s former business manager and treasurer, the P. T. Atkinson Award is given to the member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity who best exemplifies the legacy of Mr. Atkinson.

Hampden-Sydney College, ranked nationally by U. S. News and World Report, first enrolled students in 1775. A private men’s college, it is known for its strong traditional liberal arts curriculum, rhetoric program, honor code, and emphasis on leadership in he public interest.
