Crystal S. Jacobs, left, and her mother Denise Jordan are the two women behind Ynique Essentialz, a gift shop that recently moved to 174 E. Washington St.

A downtown Suffolk business moved a couple blocks down the road recently and held its grand opening last week.

Ynique Essentialz, which designs and supplies gift baskets, diaper cakes, silk flower arrangements and other gift ideas, now is located at 174 E. Washington St. It moved from the 100 block of West Washington Street.

“We did well last year,” said Denise Jordan, one of the women who own the business. “But we’re so happy to have this location.”

Jordan and her daughter, Crystal S. Jacobs, own the business. Jacobs, who is a graphic designer, also designs all the promotional materials for the business.

The business plans to have an entry in the Christmas parade this year.

The women plan eventually to delve into the world of real flowers, but for now are doing arrangements for weddings, funerals and other events with silk flowers. They also make corsages and boutonnières.

Other gift products can range from diaper cakes and towel cakes, “which is just another way of giving someone towels,” as Jordan says, to candy arrangements, photo frames and more.
