SUFFOLK – Suffolk Police responded to the 7300 Blk. of Harbour Town Parkway for a reported burglar alarm. Emergency Communications dispatched the incident at 7:42 a.m. Once the police officer arrived, all doors were secured with no signs of forced entry. The officer noted water inside the business and requested Suffolk Fire & Rescue.
Engine 25, Ladder 11 and Battalion 2 arrived at 8:12 a.m. and made entry into the business. Firefighters found light smoke conditions in the business and several inches of water on the floor. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a fire occurred in the kitchen area of the business and was suppressed by a single sprinkler head. Ladder 11 ventilated the structure with a fan and the water was secured to the business. No fire extension was found beyond the kitchen. Moderate fire damage occurred in the kitchen area with moderate smoke damage to the entire business. In addition, water damage occurred throughout the business due to the sprinkler head activation. No one was injured and the business will remain closed for repairs.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office. It is unknown when the fire occurred and that is also being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
