The generosity of the Suffolk community is truly remarkable. As the Suffolk Cheer Fund enters its 90th year, the community has already demonstrated its commitment to helping those less fortunate, particularly children, during the holiday season. The fact that the fund is currently $7,000 ahead of where it was at the same time in 2023 speaks volumes about the community’s dedication to this worthy cause. We would be remiss if we did not thank the countless corporate and individual donors that have contributed thus far. We are encouraged by the support both monetarily and the time dedicated to filling bags for families to come pick on distribution day.
As of this writing, $31,655 has already been raised towards the $50,000 goal — that number has likely already risen — it’s evident that Suffolk residents are opening their hearts and wallets to ensure a brighter Christmas for children in need, and we could not be more pleased.
This generosity has a profound impact on the lives of children in Suffolk. Since its inception in 1934 during the Great Depression, the Suffolk Cheer Fund has consistently worked to bring joy to children during the holidays. The fund’s efforts, fueled by community donations, provide a tangible expression of care and support, making a real difference in the lives of countless children throughout Suffolk’s history.
