Man Arrested in Connection with Thanksgiving House Fire

According to a media release from Suffolk Fire and Rescue, Suffolk Police arrested an adult male on suspicion of attempted arson and other charges after a house fire on Independence Ct. Thursday afternoon. Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police responded to the 100 block of Independence Ct. at 2:21 p.m. after receiving the reports of a fire at the residence.

Police have not yet released the name of the person charged.

Upon arrival at 2:27 p.m., first responders found light smoke coming from a two-story home. Firefighters located and quickly extinguished a fire inside the residence. The fire was under control by 2:40 p.m.

The fire caused limited fire damage and moderate smoke damage. No one else was found inside the home.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the man arrested by police as a person of interest in connection with the fire.
