Kitchen Fire Sends One to Hospital with Serious Burns

A fire broke out in the kitchen of a single-story home in the 300 block of Roanoke Street on Sunday, leaving one adult with serious burns, according to Suffolk Fire and Rescue.
After receiving a dispatch call, Firefight responded to the scene at 10:01 p.m. on Nov. 24. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke emanating from the structure.
The responding crews promptly extinguished the fire, which was contained in the kitchen area. Fortunately, all occupants had evacuated the building before the fire department’s arrival.
The injured adult was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious burns. The fire was declared under control by 10:20 p.m. The incident is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause of the fire.
