The King’s Fork Bulldogs (10-1) will host the Nansemond River Warriors (9-2) in the Region 5B semifinals on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the Region 5B championship to face either Maury or Warwick.

These two Suffolk rivals met on Sept. 26, at Nansemond River, with King’s Fork winning 32-27. In that game, the Bulldogs rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second half, thanks in part to a 30-yard punt return for a touchdown by Zydareus Wynn. Nansemond River had a chance to retake the lead in the fourth quarter, but a fumble at the one-yard line stymied the drive.

Both teams will need to rely on physical play at the line of scrimmage and force the other to become one dimensional. The Bulldogs hold a slight edge in points allowed per game on defense, allowing just 11, with the Warriors allowing just 16.5 points a game.

The Warriors average 32.7 points per game, with 8.6 points in the first quarter, 12.5 in the second quarter, 7.0 in the third quarter, and 4.3 in the fourth quarter.

Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at King’s Fork.
