Jonie Rae Clark, 85, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on October 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zelma Minton Baugham and Jodie “Big Jodie” Baugham, as well as her beloved sisters: Mary Alice Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Margie Cutchins of Smithfield, NC, and Daphne Darden of Carrsville, VA.
Jonie Rae is survived by her loving family, including her daughter and son-in-law Donna Rae and Charles Dotson of Zebulon, GA, her daughter Teresa Diane and Doug Walborn of Gulf Breeze, FL, and her son Russell Barry Coggsdale of Gulf Breeze, FL. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Tammy Dotson, Heather Lowery, Terry Coggsdale, Timothy Coggsdale, Justin Geer, Tyler Geer, and Devin Walborn, Dylan Walborn, as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
Jonie Rae was a dedicated member of South Quay Baptist Church in Holland, VA, and spent her life caring for others, both as a nurse in hospitals and nursing homes and later as the owner and operator of a successful business in Virginia. She was also a devoted caregiver to her father, “Big Jodie,” in his later years. Her compassion and strength were evident in everything she did, as she constantly showed a deep love for those around her.
Jonie Rae had a warm and vibrant spirit, with a love for life that was contagious. She was independent, strong, and adventurous, enjoying hobbies like riding motorcycles and shooting, yet she always carried herself with grace and kindness. Her natural beauty and elegance shone through in all she did.
To all who knew her, Jonie Rae was a sweet, loving, and caring woman who brought joy and strength to her family and friends. Her honesty and ability to be true to herself made her a one-of-a-kind presence in the lives of everyone she touched. She will be remembered for her generosity, fierce loyalty, and the unconditional love she gave to those around her.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
