Mr. David Vann Barnes, Jr. 60 of 184 Majestic Drive, Suffolk transitioned on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at his residence.
David was a native of Suffolk, where he always called home. He was educated in Suffolk Public School System; being a proud graduate of the John F. Kennedy High School Class of 1984. Upon his completion of school, David joined the United States Navy and served his country with admirable honor, dedication, and distinction for eight years.
David leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his mother, Earnestine P. Shepherd; father, Albert C. Shepherd of Suffolk and the late David Barnes, Sr; brothers, Johnnie D. Barnes of Jeanette, Pennsylvania, Kevin M. Shepherd (Jewel) and David Bush (Rita); sisters, Naomi Barnes and Evelyn B Neclos (Jiminez a special partner of over 30 years Angela Cansler, daughter Caresse Barnes; son David Donte’ Barnes; five grandchildren; aunts, Edith Porter, Anita Lewis (Tom), and Joslyn Mizelle, all of Suffolk; uncles, William Harrell (Carol) of Ruther Glen, and Slyvester Porter (Delilah) of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home. Inc.
