John “Jack” Griggs, 77, died October 4, 2024.  A native of Illinois, he was the son of the late Henry Wilson and Wilma Gray Griggs.  After retiring from the U.S. Navy with 22 years of service, he worked with the Suffolk Police for 12 years, and ended his career working as a tax associate with H&R Block for 17 years.  Jack was a member of Connect Church in Virginia Beach and served two times as President of the F.O.P.

Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma Lauraine Griggs; four children, John William Griggs, Jr. (Jennifer), Lisa Boulden (Brandt), Patrick Griggs, and Lee Anne Griggs Leete (Marcus); sister, Julie “Judy” Faye Rivard; nine grandchildren, Andrew Horn, Jessica Foster, Steven Griggs, Sarah Abshier, Kayla Griggs, Simon Boulden, Samantha Boulden, Abigail Griggs and Julia Leete; and two great-grandchildren, Liberty and Leif.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 12 noon at Connect 757 Church, 980 Broadmeadows Blvd., Va. Beach, VA  23462.
