Suffolk Fire and Rescue responds to residential structure fire on South Quay Rd

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 6700 block of South Quay Road. Emergency Communications dispatched the incident at 6:25 a.m., with the first crew arriving on the scene at 6:31 a.m. to find smoke and flames coming from the crawl space of the two-story home.

The fire was contained to the crawl space, with crews conducting searches within the structure. Despite the fire being contained, smoke damage affected the entire home. The fire was declared under control at 7:03 a.m.

At the time of the fire, three adults were present in the home but did not request assistance from the American Red Cross. The fire has been determined to be accidental, and SFR says no investigation is being conducted by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
