Victim in Monday homicide identified

SUFFOLK, Virginia — The victim in Monday’s homicide on Old Townpoint Rd. has been identified as Alvin Brown Jr., 24, of Suffolk. Brown died Monday afternoon after police say he was shot in the chest.
On Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m., Suffolk Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding a shooting incident in the 6100 block of Old Townpoint Road.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the chest. Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded and transported the male to a local hospital where he succumbed his injuries.
